Suwon defeated Daegu FC 1-0 in the round of 16 of the 2023 Korea Football Association (FA) Cup at Suwon World Cup Stadium on Thursday. Suwon, the reigning FA Cup champions (five times), advanced to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup for the eighth consecutive year. Suwon will meet Incheon United, who defeated Gyeongnam FC, on March 28. Suwon opened the scoring in the first minute with a mid-range shot from Lee Jong-sung. Suwon then proceeded to attack cautiously. Daegu’s defense didn’t break down easily either.
