Fans in Korea had high hopes for the South Korean international after he moved to PSG from RCD Mallorca in the 2022-2023 season. In some ways, it’s a no-brainer, but it’s the co-ordination with PSG that could be a factor. However, there doesn’t seem to be much progress yet.
“Actually, we want to start with a full squad from the A-match period in September,” Hwang said of Lee Kang-in’s absence. “There are problems with Lee Kang-in and there are problems with the A-team. There could be multiple issues. We are considering several plans from A to C.”
“I can’t tell you everything, but I can confirm that there was positive communication when he signed with PSG,” Hwang said.
With less than two months to go until the Asian Games, nothing is set in stone.

Lee Kang-in’s “best friend” Uhm Won-sang, who was interviewed after Hwang, said, “I contacted him after the list came out. He knows what he wants to achieve. It’s important to him, too. He told me to go with him and make sure he achieves his goal.”
Uhm Won-sang added, “I don’t have to tell you, all the players and people know (Lee Kang-in) is a good player. If he joins the team, there are so many advantages he can bring. It’s a positive factor. It’s our job to make sure he can do well,” he said, adding that Lee is also keen to play in the Asian Games.

However, something is still up in the air. “It’s hard to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ here because I haven’t seen it in writing,” Hwang said, adding that nothing has been officially discussed.
“But as I said, I am thinking positively. Lee Kang-in’s will to compete at the Asian Games is very strong. I’m thinking positively,” he said, adding that all he could say was that “Lee Kang-in’s will to compete is strong.
